The south coast is often gentler than Madeira's exposed volcanic shores, but wind, waves and currents still change. The broad upper beach offers little natural shade, and distances along the continuous sand can be deceptive in heat. The recognised bathing section and seasonal facilities provide the clearest framework.

The beach lies in front of two established resort properties whose concessions and walkways define the main access. Vila Baleira remains the island's cultural and practical centre, with restaurants, shops and the Christopher Columbus House farther east.

Cabeco da Ponta and other named sections continue along the same shore. Visitors should choose access by location rather than assuming every part of Porto Santo Beach has identical facilities.

The section is especially convenient for visitors who want Porto Santo's open beach without the busier town-centre backdrop. Evening walks are attractive, but anyone travelling far along the sand should allow enough light and energy for the return to the correct boardwalk. The low dunes also soften the hotel frontage. Evening conditions are often especially pleasant.
